Callie Champion was born deep in the soul of Mississippi, where the Heart of the Delta pulses, Belzoni.

And that heart brings energy and influence into every facet of her being.

Her life as a child enveloped her in the southern agricultural life and small town drama that Mississippi is famous for, producing noted authors and musicians in all genres. This emerald-eyed youngest daughter of three, shows no inhibitions in pursuing her career and dreams.

With ties to a deep Southern sense of family and a strong need to perform, a chance meeting with a talent scout lead her deep love of singing to a life-changing level when she was introduced to the multi-talented and multi-award winning songwriter and performing artist, Deborah Allen .

“I knew I wanted to work with Callie the moment I heard her sing. I loved the fact that she has such a keen sense of focus and personal taste in her direction. That is a rare and valuable asset for any aspiring artist. I am very proud to be associated with Callie.” comments Deborah, who is a friend and mentor to Champion both as a performer and songwriter.

With her energy, youthful exuberance and a newfound songwriting talent, Champion is setting a unique stage for that old country sound the genre craves. That deep Southern drawl, unaffected by her participation as a child in theater, musicals and local competitions, bursts out and flows over into her vocals and inspires songs like “Deep Delta Love”, a song about her love and admiration for her parents and their strong sense of family, and “Peace, Love and Cowboy Boots”, her signature song expounding on her roots deeply embedded in Delta sunflowers and cotton.

Betraying her youth, Champion wrote “I Trusted You”, a classic country “done me wrong” song with all the soul-searching questions that come from broken trust and a broken heart.

The first song written by Allen and Champion is one of her hometown's favorites--”Girls Night”. Written with her girls in mind, it plays out like many real life stories. This upbeat, fun-timing song portrays Callie's untamed nature with an Elvis twist to an ordinary story.

Depth and tenderness escape in the simple song “Why?”, written as Deborah played a tune that inspired them both to write heart-rending lyrics unfolding a love story that has left the “why” question unanswered.

Champion's musical influence by her family and their support is part of her songwriting. As a child listening to country greats played by her father and the classical, pop and rock and roll slant from her mother, she was so strongly influenced that the desire to create old country sound like Dolly Parton, Tammy Wynette, George Jones and George Strait, Reba McEntire and Willie Nelson thrown together with the added tone of a little classic rock, comes through in her lyric and performance.

Poised on the brink of a promising musical career as a singer and songwriter, Callie is open to the possibilities presented by the ever-growing love today for country music which began decades ago and continues to redefine its sound.

Listen as Callie Champion becomes part of that definition.
